Singapore strengthens workplace safety and health ecosystem with new employment longevity initiative and AI-enabled guidance tool- New Alliance for Action will explore how workers can be better supported to remain in, or return safely to, employment after injury or illness
- New AI-enabled platform, SAGE, to help workplace safety and health professionals access trusted, Singapore-specific guidance and make more informed risk management decisions
SINGAPORE, 23 July 2026 — The Singapore Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Conference 2026 opened today with the launch of the AfA-SHEL (Alliance for Action on Safety and Health for Employment Longevity) which will support efforts to prevent harm, support recovery and enable safer, healthier and better working lives. It also announced SAGE (Safety Advisory and Guidance Engine), an AI-enabled knowledge and decision-support platform for WSH professionals.
The announcements are intended to sustain Singapore’s progress towards becoming one of the safest and healthiest places to work in the world.
Supporting safer, healthier and better working lives
At the Conference, Minister of State for Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash announced the launch of the Alliance for Action on Safety and Health for Employment Longevity (AfA-SHEL), which will bring together employers, organisations, unions, practitioners and other partners to identify practical ways to help workers remain safe, healthy and productive throughout their working lives.
AfA-SHEL will focus on injury prevention, return-to-work support and workplace adaptation and job redesign. It will explore ways to make work safer and more suitable for a diverse workforce, address common risks such as slips, trips, falls, and work-related musculoskeletal disorders, and help workers integrate into employment after an injury or health episode.
AI-enabled platform to support WSH decision-making
Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash also announced the Safety Advisory and Guidance Engine (SAGE), an AI-enabled knowledge and decision-support tool developed by the Workplace Safety and Health Council in partnership with the Singapore Institution of Safety Officers, in consultation with the industry. It also incorporates industry feedback from the Ministry of National Development’s Action Team to Improve Built Environment Productivity. Beta testing for SAGE begins in August 2026, with the full public launch slated for January 2027.
Designed for WSH professionals, SAGE provides access to trusted, Singapore-specific WSH information, helps users identify workplace hazards, and identifies suitable control measures. It is designed to support – rather than replace – professional judgement of WSH practitioners.
The WSH Council also enhanced the Top Executive WSH Programme and introduced a new WhatsApp channel. Together with SAGE, these initiatives enable top executives, WSH professionals, and employees to have access WSH knowledge more readily, and implement effective safety controls more easily.
Strengthening workplace safety through collective action
Held at Marina Bay Sands, the ninth edition of the biennial conference brought together over 1,500 policymakers, business leaders, WSH professionals and industry practitioners under the theme “Insight to Impact: Collective Effort for Stronger WSH Outcomes.” The Conference focused on how Singapore’s WSH ecosystem can better anticipate emerging risks, strengthen shared ownership and translate safety insights into practical action across workplaces.
The programme featured leaders from Lendlease, CapitaLand Investment, DBS, SATS Group, Seatrium, SUTD, and other organisations, with discussions spanning boardroom accountability, SME safety excellence, worker voice, emerging risks, health and well-being, and technology as an enabler of safer workplaces.
The conference was complemented by Learning Journeys hosted by PSA Corporation, NESST Singapore, SMRT, SBS Transit and Expand Construction. These gave delegates first-hand exposure to how safety leadership, smart technology, automation, workplace and dormitory design, and continuous improvement are being applied across construction, worker housing, port operations and public transport.
Through shared responsibility, practical innovation, prevention, workplace adaptation and sustained support for workers, Singapore’s WSH ecosystem can translate insight into action and continue progressing towards safer and healthier lives.
