Workplace traffic management is an integral part of operations for all industries, especially in Jurong Island. If road traffic is not managed well, it can lead to serious accidents that can result in fatalities and/or serious injuries in the workplace and public areas, or damage to properties and vehicles.

During an online forum on 27 June 2023, co-organised by the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC), Association of Process Industry (ASPRI), and Workplace Safety and Health Council, participants learnt different aspects of safety concerning the implementation of traffic management. A speaker from the Ministry of Manpower shared insights on past traffic incidents, lessons learnt, good practices as well as resources available to help companies implement good workplace traffic management.

SCIC and ASPRI speakers highlighted their associations’ ongoing efforts to ensure the safe transportation of migrant workers, including the production of the Guidance Document on Good Practices in the Management of Drivers, developed by the SCIC-ASPRI Joint Stakeholders Committee on Safe Transportation of Migrant Workers.  A representative from Linde Gas Singapore also shared his company’s experience in implementing safety features to reduce safety risk due to drivers’ fatigue. Approximately 150 participants attended the forum.
