WSH Advisory for Fatal Accidents in First Half of 2026

The Ministry of Manpower has released the national Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) statistics for the 1H 2026. WSH performance has broadly remained stable. The annualised major injury rate, excluding Platform Workers, improved from 15.8 per 100,000 workers in 1H 2025 to an all-time low of 14.6 in 1H 2026 (excluding 2020, when work was disrupted by COVID-19). The annualised overall fatal injury rate rose from 0.97 in 1H 2025 and 0.96 in 2H 2025 to 1.1 in 1H 2026, with 21 workplace fatalities, where vehicular incidents were the leading cause accounting for nine fatalities.
The WSH Council has prepared a WSH Advisory based on the fatalities occurred in 1H 20261. This advisory covers 12 workplace accidents grouped into four incident categories.
The advisory highlights the risks involved and provides recommendations to strengthen risk controls and improve workplace safety. All employers and workers are encouraged to take reference from these incidents, put the recommendations into practice, and continue to remain vigilant.
1: In 1H2026, there were 19 workplace accidents resulting in 21 fatalities, including seven work-related traffic accidents (WRTA).
