Public Consultation for the WSH Guidelines on Statutory Medical Examinations

07 Nov 2025 Announcements

Doctors, employers and principals play a vital role in ensuring that workers are medically fit to work in environments with specific health hazards. Through specific pre-placement and periodic medical examinations, occupational diseases can be detected early. Early detection and intervention can prevent or minimise morbidity and disability from occupational diseases, prevent further deterioration and recurrence, and protect other workers from exposure.

To support practitioners and employers, the WSH Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower, has revised and updated the WSH Guidelines on Statutory Medical Examination Guidelines. Updates include:

  • New sections that provide guidance to designated work doctors (DWDs) and employers on assessing the need for medical surveillance
  • Reorganised content to guide employers, WSH professionals and DWDs on the purpose and implementation of a medical surveillance programme
  • Expanded guidance on managing abnormal laboratory results

We invite practitioners, industry stakeholders, and members of the public to share feedback. Please email your completed public consultation form to contact@wshc.sg by 6 December 2025.

Your feedback will strengthen the Guidelines to better safeguard workers and support workplace health initiatives.
