New Text-to-Speech Feature in Digital Assessments for Safety Orientation Courses from 1 September 2025

22 Aug 2025 Announcements

From 1 September 2025, a new Text-to-Speech (TTS) audio feature will be implemented in the digital assessments for three Safety Orientation Courses (SOC), namely Construction Safety Orientation Course, Metalworking Safety Orientation Course and Shipyard Safety Instruction Course (General Trade).

This enhancement enables learners who are less proficient in English to have assessment questions read aloud in their preferred language, making the SOC assessments more inclusive and accessible.

Key Features

  • The TTS feature is available in 11 languages: English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, Bengali, Hindi, Thai, Vietnamese, Burmese, Khmer and Lao.

  • Learners can replay each question as many times as needed within the existing 60-minute time limit.

  • There is no additional cost incurred by employers.

  • Training providers can offer audio assisted assessment to workers without needing the WSH Council’s approval.

For Learners and Employers

  • When registering for an SOC course or assessment, check with the training provider if the TTS feature is available in your/your employee’s preferred language.

  • Find out more information on the training providers or SOC courses on MySkillsFuture website.
