The Work at Heights Symposium 2026 focused on the theme “Safer Works at Heights, Shared Responsibility.” The event brought together industry leaders, WSH professionals, and subject matter experts from across sectors where participants learnt how innovation, leadership and collaboration could improve work at height (WAH) safety.

The symposium highlighted the need to go beyond compliance and emphasised proactive leadership, competency building and shared responsibility. These factors are key to preventing falls from height.

In his opening address, Mr Abu Bakar Mohd Nor, Chairman of the Workplace Safety and Health Council, stressed the shared duty to prevent falls from heights and called on employers, supervisors and workers to work closely together.  He highlighted three essential elements:

  • Our people must believe in workplace safety – not as a rule to comply with, but as a core value that guides everyday decisions and behaviours at work.
  • The ecosystem must support safe work at heights – through sound design, clear processes, and the right tools and technologies.
  • Leaders must embrace and model safety leadership – by setting clear expectations, resourcing safety adequately, and demonstrating visible commitment that empowers workers to speak up and intervene early.

Participants gained insights from enforcement findings, industry best practices, emerging technologies and benefitted from interactive quizzes that reinforced their learnings. The symposium concluded with an engaging panel discussion where speakers and participants exchanged views on ownership, upstream planning and the use of innovation to reduce fall risks across sectors.
