The Commercial Diving Association Singapore marked its 15th anniversary at the Diving Safety Seminar - a milestone that reflects years of steadfast commitment to safety and health in the industry.    

Mr Simon Kuik, Chairman of the WSH Council (Marine Industries) Committee, urged the industry to champion the use of Surface Supplied Diving Equipment (SSDE) or Surface-Supplied Breathing Apparatus (SSBA) as the standard for safety and reminded them to stay vigilant. With greater emphasis on working at anchorages, he called on the industry to:

  • Ensure that there is a comprehensive risk assessment and dive plan, at least five persons within the dive team, and relevant commercial diving and first aid certifications before every dive;
  • Stay updated with recommendations within the WSH Guidelines for Personal Flotation Devices – Life Jackets to address hazards in and around water; and
  • Come onboard Total WSH Programme, which offers free, holistic support to improve employees’ mental wellbeing.  

Bringing together industry leaders, regulators, and practitioners, the event concluded with an award ceremony, celebrating the industry’s collective commitment to a safer, healthier and more progressive diving community.
