Organised by the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council and in collaboration with various associations from the Hospitality and Entertainment Industries (H&EI), the Vision Zero Forum for the Hospitality and Entertainment Industries witnessed industry representatives pledge and kickstart their Vision Zero movement.

In her Welcome Remarks, Ms Dawn Teo, Chairperson of the WSH Council (Hospitality & Entertainment Industries) Committee, urged the industry to remain vigilant to potential WSH risks and take ownership to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of workers as businesses regain their footing and operate at full capacity.

Guest-of-Honour Mr Abu Bakar Mohd Nor, Chairman of the WSH Council, commended the industry for their good WSH efforts in preventing fatalities and major injuries but highlighted that minor injuries remained an area of concern. He emphasised that the industry should take extra care to target common injury causes, especially as we gear up for the festive season.

During the panel discussion, key industry leaders shared and discussed strategies on putting Vision Zero into action, including creating a culture of speaking up for safety and inculcating pervasive WSH training. Participants also learnt about available WSH technologies and personal protective equipment, as well as programmes that can support companies on their WSH journey, through several exhibition booths featured at the Forum.

Vision Zero is an ongoing movement that calls upon employers, workers, unions, and the government to embrace and commit to a mindset that every injury and ill-health at work is preventable, and a belief that zero harm is possible. The WSH Council calls upon all H&EI establishments to show your support by pledging for the movement, so that we can make all workplaces safe and healthy for our workers.
