Close to 200 industry stakeholders and representatives participated in the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Forum for the Food and Beverage (F&B) industry held on 23 May 2022. The hybrid forum shone a spotlight on promoting good mental and physical well-being of F&B workers.

In her opening address, Ms Kwee Wei-Lin, Chairperson of the WSH Council (Hospitality and Entertainment Industries) Committee, called upon F&B establishments to remain watchful and continue to care for the safety, health, and well-being of their workers as business picks up and they welcome more customers back to their premises. She added that promoting WSH leads to a win-win outcome, as it benefits both workers and organisations.

Speakers from the Food and Beverage Management Association, Singapore Chefs Association, Wong Fong Academy, and Singapore Kindness Movement, shared best WSH practices on promoting good mental and physical well-being of F&B staff, as well as in keeping F&B workplaces safe. Some of the good practices highlighted were using online menus and reservation systems to ease the physical demands on F&B workers, as well as engaging staff regularly to check on their health and well-being.

As part of this year’s National WSH Campaign, participants got up on their feet to do the National WSH Campaign Workout, a fun and energising way to remind both employers and workers to keep an active and healthy lifestyle, and stay safe at work. Participants were also invited to take part in the National #WSHWorkout Challenge.
