Fair and Progressive Employment Practices Remain Strong Amidst Rapidly Changing Business Environment

More Winners for TAFEP’s Exemplary Employer Award 2016 New I-Future Award Introduced to Recognise Forward Thinking Organisations

The Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP, 劳资政公平与良好雇佣联盟) today announced 15 winners of the TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award 2016 (TAFEP 模范雇主奖). Coinciding with TAFEP’s 10th Anniversary, this year’s award features the most number of winners in any year since the award’s inception in 2010. TAFEP also announced a new award category, the “I-Future” award, which recognises organisations that have put in place holistic and progressive strategies to prepare for the workforce of tomorrow.

2 The number of winners this year increased despite more stringent judging criteria and an increasingly challenging global business environment. All award winners have shown that the implementation of fair and progressive employment practices is a priority to their organisations, and crucial for the attraction of new talents, motivation, engagement and retention of their existing employees, making them Employers of Choice. This year’s award also saw nine first-time participants from both the private and public sectors emerge as winners.Celebrating the achievements of fair and progressive employers

3 All finalists were subjected to a thorough evaluation process, which included site visits and interviews with employees, senior management and HR representatives. 15 winners were then chosen for their overall outstanding achievements in implementing fair and progressive employment practices.

New award category --- the “I-Future” award

4 A new award category was also introduced to recognise forward-looking organisations that adopted holistic and progressive strategies to prepare for the future.The “I-Future” award is conferred on organisations that have successfully partnered their employees to ensure a sustainable future, through various programmes such as upskilling to ensure that the workforce continues to be equipped with relevant and updated skills, and the development of talent and leadership pipelines. The winner of the inaugural “I-Future” award is DBS Bank.

Recognising excellence in specific areas of fair and progressive employment

5 In addition, three of the winners were awarded Special Mentions for achieving excellence in the specific areas of building inclusive workplace culture and establishing proactive senior leadership support for fair and progressive employment practices. The winners of these Special Mentions are:

6 Congratulating the winners for fostering a fair, inclusive and progressive working environment, Mr Douglas Foo (符标雄), Co-Chairperson, TAFEP, and Vice President, Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), said, “This year marks the 10th anniversary of TAFEP and I am heartened to see an increase in the number of winners for the TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award. In fact, 9 of the 15 winners are first time entrants! Their achievements positively demonstrate how far we have come in terms of building fair, inclusive and progressive workplaces that benefit both organisations and their staff. I encourage more employers to work with TAFEP to create workplaces that value diversity and nurture the development of different strengths and capabilities.”

7 The Award ceremony today also featured a panel discussion on how companies can get ready for social, demographical and technological changes in the future. The panellists were:
