About the workshop
Jointly organised with the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), this one day workshop provides employers with an overview of the Employment Act as well as insights to the many HR and IR related concerns/issues at the operational level. The workshop will also cover recent changes in Singapore’s employment legislation to deepen employers’ understanding of their key responsibilities under the new employment landscape. It will also cover the essential obligations of employers under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. HR practitioners and line managers will find this workshop both informative and highly beneficial in helping them to comply with the laws as well as to adopt a progressive approach to employment practices at the workplaces.
About the Trainer
Choo Soo Teck
Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices
Soo Teck was with the Ministry of Manpower for more than 30 years. As an Assistant Commissioner for Labour at the Labour Court for 12 years, he has extensive experience working with employers, advising them on good employment practices. His fair and balanced approach has resolved many disputes between employers and workers amicably. An experienced adjudicator, he is able to advise employers on the correct application of the employment laws.
During his term with the Ministry of Manpower, he held various appointments including Deputy Head of the Workmen’s Compensation Department and Employment Pass Department. He was also responsible for the enforcement of various labour legislations.
